Since I closed my etsy store some time ago, you can buy pieces directly by sending me an email or commenting on my blog. Just tell me what the caption was or describe to me what you liked and I can give you price and availability. Many have figured this out but for those who have asked there it is.  Art and Commerce are like a horse and carriage?

Dia de los Muertos earrings

Dia de Los Muertos earrings

It’s been some time since I have posted. Fact is the summer is just way too short up here on the prairie and in addition to that I started a new Job in May.  That said, winter is blowing in and it’s that time of year when I get hunkered down in my little room and get back to making things.  Here are a few of the 20 or so pair I made last week for Dia de Los Muertos.

Hope to have something else new for you by next week!

When the warm weather rolls in, I am thinking, I should say daydreaming about a long walk on a deserted beach…  But not this week.  Hopefully that can become a reality again one of these days.  For now, how  about some beach-y ear rings?

Well the big spring sales are behind me and I am busy making new things.  I will also be selling work at a beautiful and relatively new salon in Edina called BESPOKE Hair Artisans.  Check them out, great stylists and spa treatments in a beautiful environment and free parking to boot!  Other than new earrings and working to pay the man (or is that men?) there is gardening to be done and sunshine to be enjoyed! Hope you are doing some enjoying yourselves…

…when she said the older you get the faster time goes!  I am trying to get work photographed and documented before I sell it these days.  So much to learn with my computer and camera!  Anyhow, I made this pair of earrings for my niece from a treasured piece of broken jewelry with the help of my son who is much better than I with a jewelry saw.  I think she will love them.

Hope to update things more often!

Earrings

It has been an interesting year and I am happy to be healthy and surrounded by great people (related and not) that I love spending time with, you know who you are.  Thankfully the winter has been mild so far and the sun is still shining most days.  I am in the process of sorting, trashing and re-org-ing my workspaces and am giving myself until the end of January to do it…it’s a big job.  I hope to see and or hear from you in the coming months and I aim to post more regularly as I have many projects to share as I get better with my camera and photograph them.

Attached is a photo from a Holiday party of my dear friend Debra wearing a collar I made some years ago with some pieces of my grandmother’s jewelry.  Hope the New Year is a healthy and happy one for us all!

Sunday, Sunday, Sunday for one day only from 11am to 4pm.  My first sale of the season is tomorrow November 27th at Regla De Oro Gallery in Uptown.  I am one of three artists showing and it is a beautiful shop with a great variety of gifts, please stop over.  Address as well as info on the other artists can be found on the website under EVENTS. Hope to see you there!

Regla De Oro is at 3007 Lyndale Ave. S. in Minneapolis, MN 55408.  612-886-1247

The shop is on Lyndale, just south of Lake Street on the East side of the street, there is a small lot just south of the store or metered street parking on both sides of Lyndale. Look for the green awning.

Below are photos of a few of the things from my bag of tricks!

Well, since my last post rejoicing the arrival of Spring, it has come and gone.  That should be no surprise after 25 years in Minnesota but let’s just say I am a slow learner.  Anyhow, this week was the birthday of a dear friend who is an amazing botanical (and nature in general) illustrator; the blossoming of a beautiful walking iris given to me by a master gardening friend; and I am photographing all the flower/nature inspired earrings and jewelry I have been making then uploading to my Flickr photos.  So, though the weather has not been co-operating so much, I am celebrating Spring in the hopes that it returns soon; like hopefully the day after the 5 inches of snow we are being threatened with!  At any rate, hippity-hop and Happy Easter, Passover or Spring to you all.

Walking Iris, Thank you Susan!

I am still at it making earrings for a show I will be doing (March 5th, more on that later), but last night we had a break in the action. We went to see Lucinda Williams doing an acoustic show and it was such a nice evening.  The show was great, just a girl and her guitar, as raw and intimate as it gets (Thank you SO much Tom!).  A few nice surprise guests, some songs from the up coming album, met some nice people and connected with old friends we don’t see enough.  All in all, time well spent.

Back to the drawing board though, I am working with this steel wire that is so beautiful.  I like it with similarly rustic things like these stones I picked up at Lake Superior or with the contrast of these sparkly faceted quartz rounds.  As far as I’m concerned, steel wire is the new black!
