Yesterday my friend, the extremely accomplished, supportive and inspirational artist/writer Jean Campbell came over to talk and work in my garage/workspace. She took some great photos of my pile ‘o’ crap which you can see on her blog and we had fun getting caught up and playing. Why is it so hard to schedule time to interact with other artists? Anyhow, I am almost finished with a new piece and will post a photo soon! Thanks Jean, the visit was like a shot of caffeine to my brain…without the shaky hands.
I spent a beautiful afternoon today with a good friend. We went to the home of her good friend for a great brunch then a stroll through Nordeast for all the open studios and excitement that is Art A Whirl. I met a lot of nice and interesting people and saw some great art. Some beautiful paintings by Caitlin Karolczak, her check out her site here. Also some very cool assemblage by a guy named Danny Saathoff. There is certainly no shortage of talent in Minneapolis. Go enjoy the beautiful weather and see some great work!
I’m ready for it to be warm and sunny again but I guess this weather gives me the opportunity to catch up in all the dreaded paperwork that needs doing. In my daydreaming about sunnier days it occurred to me to put up some photo’s of the bleach pen garments I did last summer for my daughter and niece. They are fun to do and the results are usually great, even the mistakes (dribbles and blobs) have a cool batik-ish look to them. Bring on the sun!
Have been busy doing shows which went well. Then spent the weekend in Chicago to see my nephew’s Masters recital at Northwestern . He is a sax and clarinet player and the Recital was really spectacular. The music was challenging and emotional and all the players were very good, I’m so glad we got to see it! I know he is my nephew, but it was really GREAT! We also had time to go to the Art Institute and spend a few hours. A really great weekend and now back to work…
