Happy New Year to all…

We started the New Year off with a bang surrounded by friends, good food and libation and lot’s of laughs. And at midnight, thanks to a local neighbor association we could see fireworks from our living room window to boot. During the evening there was some rum fueled conversation about resolutions and such and I committed to do a drawing a day in 2012. Yes, I had been thinking about it because when I made the attempt 8 years ago I fell a little short. Wish me more luck this time please! Other promises were made for “a day” feats like: a poem, a blog post, a drink (think alcoholic beverage), and some that will remain open to your imagination. I am wishing us all well and am putting no pressure on myself as to the quality of the finished product, it’s more to establish better habits as I see it. Another year is winding down…

It has been an interesting year and I am happy to be healthy and surrounded by great people (related and not) that I love spending time with, you know who you are. Thankfully the winter has been mild so far and the sun is still shining most days. I am in the process of sorting, trashing and re-org-ing my workspaces and am giving myself until the end of January to do it…it’s a big job. I hope to see and or hear from you in the coming months and I aim to post more regularly as I have many projects to share as I get better with my camera and photograph them.

Attached is a photo from a Holiday party of my dear friend Debra wearing a collar I made some years ago with some pieces of my grandmother’s jewelry. Hope the New Year is a healthy and happy one for us all!

Pizzell

Well, aside from doing shows and selling jewelry I have made the Pizzelle (photo from Andrea…thanks!) and many have been eaten. Other than that, just working and doing the normal Holiday things; wrapping, shipping etc… Hope everyone has a healthy, low stress time with a few good meals and laughs with your friends and families!

I am one of three artists showing and it is a beautiful shop with a great variety of gifts, please stop over. Address as well as info on the other artists can be found on the website under EVENTS. The shop is on Lyndale, just south of Lake Street on the East side of the street, there is a small lot just south of the store or metered street parking on both sides of Lyndale. Look for the green awning.

Hello all, I have been keeping busy with preparation for shows/sales I will be doing this winter and am posting this little hand out I drew up with the basic information for all four of them. Later this week or early next I will post links to the ones that have them and directions. Well, here is another post I did a month ago and never published… Really, I need an assistant, and while I am wishing…a patron! Next post will not take a month because I am so excited about my new purchase…more on that soon.

Weekend before last we had dragged all our wicker chairs out back for a party and look what I found when I was brushing off the undersides to bring them back inside! This cicada had just crawled out of his old shell which is on the same rung of the chair on the other side…couldn’t get it in the pic. His wings have the most beautiful green outline! It was hard to get a decent shot, he kept walking away from the camera. I have a love hate relationship with bugs (hate being mostly for biters like mosquitoes and spiders) but I try and remind myself that they were here long before and will be long after me, so at least I admire them for their adaptability. Pretty cool huh?

Just found this entry that I never posted…garden and work are keeping me way too busy I guess!

It is that wonderful time of year when we have so many tomatoes, (not to mention cucumbers, serrano’s, and basil) that it’s tomato sandwiches every day. Yes, we are also enjoying blt’s, bruschetta, pico de gallo, and quick tomato sauce on campanelle for a change of pace on occasion. Guy Clark is right…only two things that money can’t buy, true love and homegrown tomatoes!

tomato hornworm anyone?

So a few weeks ago I was dragging a hose across the vast expanse of our front lawn when cruising ahead of me I spotted this large, (3 1/4″ long, trust me, I’m spatial) pale green thing. It was gliding right along the top of the grass! I ran in and found the camera and a jar and took this photo of him on our front bench. Isn’t it beautiful??? Thanks to “the Google”, it didn’t long to identify it and though I am glad to have found him I should let you know you don’t want this one or any of his buddies in your garden. Apparently, they can do some damage. Anyhow, I had to share. Perhaps I was an entomologist in a former life…

Hi everyone, I want to let you all know that my jewelry is now available at a great little gallery I happened on one day while walking around the Lyn Lake Area in Minneapolis a few weeks ago. Regla De Oro has a great mix of Art and Craft, support local and fair trade artists and are in a wonderful location…with a little parking lot to boot. In addition to some of my work, she has these very cool “flip stone” rings and many other well priced gift items. I hope those of you in town here will stop by and check them out. Actually, I am loving this severe heatwave. If I am not in our cool basement or some other air conditioned spot, our neighbor’s pool is the place to be. Other than floating around there I have made a few quick trips to check out the yard, where things are going crazy from all the rain and sun. There is so much blooming and it looks as if we are in store for a great harvest in the next month or so. I did a few of these little flower children today and there were so many great leaves and flowers to choose from. If you think these are cool check out this book by the amazing and prolific Elsa Mora. Stay cool!
